Computer CORE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering highly motivated, low-income individuals the opportunity to transform their careers & improve their lives.

Students apply to participate in a six-month program designed to prepare them for all aspects of career from computer skills to resume writing and interview advice.

program Main Program

CORE's six-month computer training course helps students conquer fears and learn computer basics:

- Keyboarding
- Microsoft Office - Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- eMail and Internet Explorer


Instructors advise and mentor students, identifying existing skills, nurturing interests and working on:

- Writing resumes & Cover Letters
- Job search strategies


In additions, student can receive:

- FREE refurbished computer to own at home
- The opportunity to enroll at Northern Virginia Community College, apply to financial aid and receive seven college credits for coursework at CORE

program Computer CORE Workshops

CORE’s Skills-Building Program offers more than 20 skills-building workshops that are designed for community members seeking knowledge and skills to succeed in today’s ever-changing job market, to transition into a new career, or simply to learn a new skill that will make life/work easier. Some of the classes teach beginning skills. Others provide intermediate and advanced training. All classes have a focus on developing hands-on experience with software, hardware, and skills development.
Certificates are also offered in 4 different subject areas.

- Customer Service Excellence
- IT Office Maintenance and Troubleshooting
